System and Connection

In order to run Magical Rooms smoothly, we recommend the following:

Connection

Connection Check

Magical Room uses a direct communication between Flash Player and its server.
If the connection between Flash Player and the server fails, the error message "failed to communicate with the server"
will be displayed and you will not be able to play.
To test your connection, click the button below. If the button text displays "ok", your connection is strong enough to allow
Magical Rooms to run.

Connection Speed

over 1.5Mbps

If you are running any firewalls or anti-virus software, make the following TCP / IP port numbers available

Email

An email account is required to play. Use a computer that is capable of email functions.

Magical Rooms (and Mirror Realms in general) uses Javascript.
Check your browser settings to make sure that Javascript is enabled.

In order to run Magical Rooms, cookies must be enabled.

  1. Go to the "Internet Options" menu, under "Tools".
  2. Go to the "Privacy" tab.
  3. Click "Advanced".
  4. Check the "Override automatic cookie handling" box.
  5. Select "Accept" for both First and Third-party Cookies.
  6. Click "OK"

⇒ Firefox 3.x

  1. Open the "Tools" menu. Select "Options"
  2. Go to the "Privacy" tab and check the "Accept cookies from sites" box.

Security

Magical Rooms (like all other Mirror Realms games) employs SSL to protect our players' personal information.
By using a browser that supports security features, player information is encrypted automatically when sent or
recieved. Therefore, if a third-party somehow manages to intercept transmitted data, it cannot steal content.
Pages with SSL wil display a key symbol at the bottom of your browser.
